In 2021, she was chosen by Speaker Ritter to be the House Chair of the Public Safety & Security committee, a rare accomplishment for a sophomore representative.
Horn lives in Salisbury with her husband, three children, and their dog. They have sunk deep roots there. She understands the challenges and advantages of living and working in their region and ran for office because she wanted to be part of its future.
She believed that she could put her experience to work for the people of the Northwest Corner. Horn has extensive experience in management and finance in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, expertise she will apply to help solve the state’s budget crisis while protecting what is essential for her community in the Northwest Corner: an ability to support their residents and attract new families with services that help them thrive and grow. Her experience as a former federal prosecutor, a chair of nonprofit boards, and a mother has reinforced her faith in idealism, collaboration, and action. She knows it is individuals and communities who make a difference, and solutions are found in partnerships and compromise.
Horn chaired the Board of Trustees of the Indian Mountain School in Lakeville until June 1 of this year. She had been a trustee since 2009. For the past eight years she’s also served on the Board of Directors for Women’s Support Services, the domestic violence prevention agency in Sharon. She was chairman of that Board for three years and currently chairs its Governance Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Finance in Salisbury.
The bulk of Horn’s professional career was in New York City, where she worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Criminal Division. Before that, she was a lawyer in private practice at Debevoise & Plimpton and a law clerk for a federal judge. Prior to her legal career, Horn spent four years working in corporate finance at JP Morgan & Co. She earned her JD from the University of Chicago (1993), and her BA from Princeton University (1986).
